Fall Has Always Been My Season for Shedding
There is something that happens to me every year around this time.
The air changes. The light shifts.
And something in me exhales.
Fall has always been the season where I feel the most honest with myself. Not the most productive. Not the most inspired.
The most honest.
It is the season where the things I have been quietly carrying start to loosen their grip. The old stories. The unprocessed grief. The version of myself I have been holding onto a little too tightly.
Not because I have worked hard enough or done enough healing.
But because the season gives me permission to let them fall.
I have noticed this in the people I work with too.
Something about this time of year creates a softening. A readiness. Like the body already knows what the trees know.
That what is no longer needed can be released without loss.
That releasing is not the same as losing.
In shamanic traditions, the cycles of nature are not separate from the cycles of our own healing. They are mirrors. When the earth turns inward, so do we. When the leaves release, we are being invited into our own version of that letting go.
So this fall, I am not pushing.
I am not filling the quiet.
I am sitting with what the season is showing me.
What carried me through the spring that I no longer need to hold?
What story about myself has run its course?
What grief has been asking for a little more space?
These are not questions I answer quickly. I sit with them. I bring them into my healing sessions and let them speak.
If you are feeling the pull to go inward this season, I want you to know that is not a problem to solve.
It is an invitation to receive.
Fall has always been my season for shedding.
And if you are feeling it too, you are exactly where you are meant to be.
If you would like support moving through what this season is bringing up, I offer private one on one sessions in person in Richmond, Ontario and virtually across Canada.
You do not need to arrive knowing exactly what you need. We can figure that out together.
